Oliver Derek Fieilds was born on May 16,1981 to Marcie Fieilds, a woman who was into drugs and would often prostitute herself to get them. Because of her lifestyle, no one has any idea of who his father was. She tried for maybe three months to care for her child before leaving him with his grandparents, Paul and Gennevieve Fieilds, to go back to her drugs. Although this was a cold-hearted thing to do, leaving him with his grandparents in Kentucky was probably the best thing that ever happened to him. Derek grew up helping his grandparents tend to their farm. At fifteen years of age, he lost his grandfather. Derek kept consistently good grades in high school, but he wanted to do his family proud. Before he graduated high school, Derek signed up for the United States Marine Corps. Nothing however, was worse than completing bootcamp than to realize he'd never see his grandmother again. For she had followed her husband all of her life, she would follow him to death only a couple weeks after Derek left for bootcamp. Unable to stand going home he threw everything he had into the Corps. Tragedy seemed to follow him every waking moment as he kept throwing his life on the line hoping he'd never have to deal with loneliness. He developed relationships while he was in the Corps, but in the end, Derek was still alone. When he survived his accident, he was honorably discharged and sent back to the States to recover with the promise that the Marines would take very good care of him. At home, he fixed up the farm after being away so long, slowly healing, slowly rebuilding. At the age of thirty, he felt tired and old, and wanted to change that for himself so he headed out west to Oregon and became a Police Officer.
